Anderson Ranch Art Center, Aspen, Colorado, February 2022
(A residency in collaboration with Oolite Arts, Miami, FL)
I attended Anderson Ranch Art Center during a time when I wasn't sure what type of art I wanted to make. So, I went back to what I was most comfortable with, which is watercolor painting and collage.
One of the coolest things about this residency was that it was a collaboration with Oolite Arts. They brought all these Miami artists to Aspen, Colorado, a place with a completely different climate from Miami. We went from the heat to experiencing a snowstorm.
During this residency, I really enjoyed the community aspect. I got to learn so much about the other artist’s practice, including Terence Price II, Reginald O'Neal and others. Seeing their work and learning about their process really influenced me to push my own practice. Also the food at this residency was probably my top three of all the residencies I've attended. My favorite was their poke bowls.
